Patrick Duffy has a passion and know-how for helping existing business stay in Covington and thrive. He puts that passion in motion by helping businesses navigate the City’s robust resources, being heavily involved in the City’s Small Business Incentive Program, and keeping his thumb on the pulse of the needs of the dynamic businesses throughout Covington. We’ll let the numbers speak to his effectiveness: In 2023 he worked with 12 businesses who either expanded their footprint or relocated to another location in Covington. And in 2022, Patrick visited more than 140 unique businesses in the city.
In the sliver of time Patrick has outside of working with the needs of Covington businesses, he stays active in key associations like the Latonia Business Association, Latonia Uptown, Covington Business Council, and is on the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Small Business Development Center Board.
Patrick volunteers monthly at Covington’s Be Concerned Food Pantry, participating in the nonprofit’s Senior Food Delivery program. He’s a certified Human Resource Professional through the Society for Human Resources, and is pursuing the International Economic Development Counsel’s Certified Economic Developer Certification. Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Thomas More University, where he played football for 4 years.
Prior to joining the City of Covington, Patrick was a molecular genetics lab technician at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. After a career shift, he was a physician recruiter for Sterling Medical and a career coach for the Brighton Center’s Center for Employment Training. Before joining the City’s Economic Development Department, Patrick was the Human Resources Generalist responsible for recruiting City employees.
